Cheese Dipping Sauce

Learn how to make a cheese dip with real Cheddar cheese that's perfect for dipping chips or vegetables in.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • salt and pepper to taste

Direction

  1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir in flour and 1 teaspoon of salt until mixture begins to bubble.
  2. Gradually add milk, stirring continuously, until mixture has thickened. Stir in cheese and mustard until all of the cheese is melted and sauce is smooth. Season to taste with salt and pepper; serve warm.
